There's an ad thats either released and airing now or soon to air that compares Barack Obama to the Antichrist

As the ad begins, the words "It should be known that in 2008 the world shall be blessed. They will call him The One" flash across the screen. The Antichrist of the Left Behind books is a charismatic young political leader named Nicolae Carpathia who founds The One World religion (slogan: "We are God") and promises to heal the world after a time of deep division. One of several Obama clips in the ad features the senator saying, "A nation healed, a world repaired. We are the ones that we've been waiting for."

The visual images in the ad, which Davis says has been viewed even more than the McCain's "Celeb" ad linking Obama to the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, also seem to evoke the cover art of several Left Behind books. But they're not the cartoonish images of clouds parting and shining light upon Obama that might be expected in an ad spoofing him as a messiah. Instead, the screen displays a sinister orange light surrounded by darkness and later the faint image of a staircase leading up to heaven

Instead of going on, I was wondering what you thought of all of this. Ok. Actually I'm laughing so hard its getting hard to finish the post, so please finish this one for me...

What's up with this one?!

95% of the country will think it's crazy -- and the few fringers that buy this shit (the Christian Identity cultists) want to see this "final battle" come about will actually vote FOR Obama to advance the cause.

These are the same folks that think Jews are spawn of a union between Eve and Satan -- but fervently support Israel because, per their Left Behind fantasies, Israel's control of the holy land is a landmark on the road to their apocalyptic orgasm.

McCain won election because the GOP was fragmented and he was last man standing. That fragmentation came at the top from the evangelicals.

IMHO ads of this type are drawn out just to show that the other guy is an idiot if he responds to them, or an idiot if he doesnt - and are meant to target that segment of the evangelicals that think McCain isn't enough of a holy roller for them.

At which point, you are in danger of seeing the GOP unify - so I wouldn't discard it.

In 2004 there were quite a few people that voted for bush, believing he is the antichrist. Sick stuff.

if only it were just 5%.

I know there's an email being spread that compares Obama to the anti-christ, although funny enough, snopes debunks it because it uses the wrong biblical book name and says the bible warns of a man of Muslim descent when Islam hadn't been founded at the time that the so-called anti-christ warning had been written. but of course pesky facts are rather irrelevant when appealing to people's worst natures.

Not that funny. Scary. I hope that the Secret Service has refined its protocols to the point that they can handle anything. As we all know, crazy liberals don't kill people, crazy conservatives do.

Wow, it's BOTH scary and funny.

I remember this card actually being played on the the Clintons BOTH Hil and Bill...mostly in the Freeper world.

The pushback from even some of the insane folk was, the AntiChrist, I believe, is supposed to be Jewish?

Of course, that could play BIG for Obama (Snark)

He's Muslim

He's Christian

He's Jewish!

Now, he just have to cover the Buddist and Wiccan vote...

My mom believed in Jesus, the Pope and FDR..... Just not necessarily in that order.

I have been wondering when this would start. I figured that it would happen with either Obama or Clinton. Hell, there were people who tried to say that Bill Clinton was the antichrist. There are people who think that bush is the antichrist (They may actually be right:~)..

I think there are a LOT of really ignorant people out there. I meet them rather often around here. These are people that do not have the analytical skills and/or time to pay much attention to the world around us, but they do know thinks seem really, really bad. Times are getting really rough for the poor and not so poor these days. Unfortunately a lot of these folks are susceptible to the real nut jobs of the world, the whacko's that think we are now in the "end times".
